I would like to discuss some techniques in pencil
Sanguine pencil is sometimes hard to use because it can be very unforgiving at times and hard to erase.
The traditional way to use Sanguine is with a white and multi colored crayons, but I prefer just using a monochrome.
One can see more examples of my work here.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Scream by Edvard Munch (1893) which inspired 20th century Expressionists
Expressionism was a cultural movement, initially in poetry and painting, originating in Germany at the start of the 20th-century. Its typical trait is to present the world under an utterly subjective perspective, violently distorting it to obtain an emotional effect and vividly transmit personal moods and ideas. Expressionist artists sought to express the meaning of "being alive" and emotional experience rather than physical reality.<

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nude study, 1896, by figurative art advocate Kenyon Cox.
Figurative art, sometimes written as figurativism, describes artwork—particularly paintings and sculptures—which are clearly derived from real object sources, and are therefore by definition representational.

This blurb below comes to us, thanks to Wikipedia:

Figure drawing is an exercise in drawing the human body in its various shapes and positions. "Life drawing" is the process of drawing the human figure from observation of a live model. Figure drawing is arguably the most difficult subject an artist commonly encounters, and entire classes are dedicated to the subject.
The human figure is one of the most enduring themes in the visual arts, and figure drawing can be applied to portraiture, cartooning and comic book illustration, sculpture, medical illustration, and other fields that use depictions of the human form. Figure drawing can be done very simply, as in gesture drawing, or in greater detail, using charcoal, pencil or other drawing tools. If pigment is used, the process may be called figure painting. |
